| Turin is a city surrounded by mystery. The holder of the Holy Shroud and, according to legend, the Holy Grail, this is a city with a devilish heart. Located on the 45th parallel, it forms one of the 3 sides of the so-called triangle of white magic, along with Lyons and Prague, and the triangle of black magic with London and San Francisco.
The city is the centre of mysterious, ancient lines of positive and negative energy, and two rivers converge there, the Po and the Dora. It is said that the Po represents the sun and what is masculine, and the Dora symbolises the moon and what is feminine. Together they form a ring of protective water that surrounds the city.
The black heart of the city is the Piazza Statuto. The Romans believed this to be cursed, as it faces the sunset, which symbolises the convergence of good and evil, and was unfavourable.
Piazza Castello is the centre of white magic, which is attributed to the proximity of the Holy Shroud in the Duomo di San Giovanni Battista, the positive energy that emanates from the Museo Egizio and the golden auspices of the grotto under the Palazzio Madama, where the alchemists brought in by the Savoy practised their mysterious arts. |
