| In Santander the festival begins with the Semana Grande from 20th to 28th July, although the festivities revolve around the main day, that of the apostle St. James (Santiago). However, the fairs, to the delight of the youngest, carry on well into the first fortnight of August. The bull fair is also held these days, a very traditional event in the city, and some hotels hold discussions and chats on the subject.
At the end of August, coinciding with the festivals on the 30th of San Emeterio and San Celedonio, the Holy Martyrs, there is the so-called “Semanuca”, with different fun and musical acts, such as the Summer Carnival and a festival close with a firework castle on 1st September. |
